La Jolla Coast Summer
Lying on the sand
A part of the seascape,
Eyes closed,
Sinking into the sounds
And scents,
Warmth beneath my back,
Children's laughter,
Seagulls squawking
Coconut sunscreen
Citrus drinks,
Murmured conversations
That grow into clarity
As my mind floats outward,
A lovers' discussion threatening quarrel,
A mother comforting child,
Young men discussing bikinis
Young girls discussing makeup
And men,
Me a silent voyeur behind closed eyelids,
Just part of the scenery,
The summer seascape.

Many Seasons of Winnie the Pooh
The earth is alive,
The grass is greening on time,
The birds are singing
In melodious cadence.
Our God is alive and well.
Picnics are many
During the hot days of summer,
While the nights are filled
With twinkling stars and a breeze
And a song of gratitude.
The trees are turning
To bright yellow and red
Strewn across the lane,
Where two lovers are caught up
In beauty of the season
Silence of the snow
Keeps falling, falling, falling
Blanketing the earth
Like a sugary meringue
So delicious to the taste.
