I have an overstuffed chair and ottoman in my den, and it's THE place where I watch television, relax with a good book or magazine, all in the company of my wonderful dog.

The question quickly arose when I brought the little guy home. How could I enjoy having him on the furniture with me, without ruining it? So, I tried everything-from blankets to sheets I no longer used. They worked fine, but LOOKED terrible! So, night after night I performed the tedious task of taking them off, folding and putting them away. This grew old very quickly!

The answer? A slipcover! Why didn't I think of that before? The benefits were many. My chair no longer looked like the room was about to be painted, AND I got a brand new look for a fraction of the price of buying a new chair. No longer did I have to fold blankets and sheets every night, and, I must say, it felt great to look at what appeared to be a new chair, in the colors and patterns I loved.

One other tidbit, but an important one: The slipcover stays in place. No fussing over it. A little fluff here and there and I'm done. I did the same without a slipcover, only now, my furniture looks better!
