Mastering the Art of Holiday Decor

It seems like it starts earlier every year. The holiday season appears, marked by special edition magazines on newsstands, brimming with ideas for new holiday decorations. Breathtaking interior design photos illustrating holiday décor from the White House, to your neighbor's house, accompany these ideas. It can make you feel a bit overwhelmed; especially if you're brand new to designing your home for the holidays or if you want to make changes to bring new life to your home and you're not quite sure where to start. Here are some tips you may not have thought of to help you add more sparkling pizzazz to your holiday décor.
Inspired Color Schemes
A fabulous way to make a change to your holiday décor is by being imaginative with your color selections. Although I have a good set of holiday basics, each year I add a bit more to my collection of ornaments by incorporating a new color. So in future years, I am able to combine different elements together to create a new look. Every year I change the focus of color on my tree. Our Christmas Issue of Dreams Alive Magazine
You'll notice that our Christmas Issue is a little "thinner" than normal. A few weeks ago we announced that we will start publishing monthly issues of the magazine instead of quarterly, starting in 2005. The changes seen in the Christmas Issue are part of that transition as we prepare to make things easier to work with. It is our desire that by releasing a smaller, but more timely magazine, we will better be able to provide current information and publish articles much more quickly after having received them.
The design and creation of each magazine issue is somewhat a labor of love, but without your article and financial contributions, this magazine would not exist. To help ensure this magazine continues to grow, send us your articles, recipes, poetry and art work so that our time is not spent searching for material. Providing pictures with your article is a huge time saver for us as well.
On an average, it costs us nearly $100 to format, publish and advertise each article, so as a FYI...if you place an article, consider placing an ad as well if you can afford it. All things work together for good.
This Christmas season, let us remember that the time for sacrifice ended 2000 years ago and a time of sharing began...still exists and will continue to do so. After all, sharing is really just a matter of providing what you may temporarily have more of to those who may temporarily have less. Nobody loses...nobody gains...things just become more even.

My son's NASCAR bedroom...

My husband and I just bought our very first home. We painted what's going to be our son's bedroom a light blue and bough NASCAR boarder. Anyone have any cheap ideas as to how to make the rest of his room look like a NASCAR room? We don't have a lot of money to keep spending but ideas are so wanted at the moment. I will check back later to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.
