Virginia's Miracle

Four-year-old Davey pressed his face against the living room window and searched the sky. His warm breath created a foggy haze on the cold glass and obscured the reflection of the Christmas tree that decorated the cheery room. Close to the fireplace, his grandmother, Virginia Collins, sat in her rocking chair, knitting a sweater. The soft clickity-clack of the needles created a steady rhythm to which the yellow and orange flames beyond the hearth danced. The roaring fire provided a warm respite from the snowy outdoors.
Davey turned away from the window--his eyes aglow. "Grammy, how will Santa know I'm at your house?"

Baby Girl Nursery, need advice

Hi all!
I am 7 months pregnant and in the process of decorating my baby girls nursery. I am going with a cherry wood crib and dresser and my bedding is pink/cream toile. The only problem is my house is 23 years old and all of the trim is this really yucky dark brown color. So I want to paint it. I was thinking of white. The doors (closet and bedroom)also need to b painted. Someone told me to paint the trim cream or off white, but I am afraid that it will be too much cream. Plus, the trim in the hallway is white. I'm confused. The walls in the room are split, the top of the walls are cream, then a border, then the bottom of the walls are a rose color. Any advice?

Problem Living Room

hi, my husband and i just bought a house that we love, but we're having a hard time with living room. It is almost square, about 17 x 17, and has something interfering with all 4 walls. Wall 1 has a door entering room. Directly across is a fireplace. WAll to the left has a large window that is very long and low to floor -- it seems funny to have couch in front of window, cutting half of it off. Door opposite window has a french door leading to kitchen. Where should we put the couch?? Diagonally? We actually have a couch and a loveseat, but may get rid of loveseat. Thanks for any advice you have!
