These themes are based on popular decorative motifs and new trends. I’ve given each group a name so that we will be together in what we’re calling a certain "look."
"Lisa lists many popular decorative themes. Some of the decorative categories are Oceanview, Old World, and Timeless Traditions. This neat list will help you decorate your bedroom, living room, or even your whole house."
Outdoor Living:
As you will guess, this includes an assortment of products designed for outdoor and patio living. Often, these items also fit nicely into indoor decorating schemes. This includes indoor tabletop fountains and twisted or braided wire pieces, like the ivory double basket Stand and 3-tier stand from Home & Garden Party. Versatility is emphasized with this decorative theme.
Timeless Traditions:
This is the category into which a large amount of home décor merchandise falls. It covers several decorative styles including Traditional, Victorian, and certain types of Country. For example, all of the current HGP stoneware patterns can fit into this group in one way or another.
Exotic:
This is a very popular style all over the country. It combines a jungle/safari motif with what some people call the Ernest Hemmingway travel/tropical and British/Bombay look. Since greens are such a big component of this theme, sage and forest as well as khaki and moss colors blend well.
Oceanview:
In this grouping we are combining two types of waterfront motifs. Some who decorate in this style include nautical accessories and tropical aspects, such as palm trees. The second style includes many of the same nautical items like lighthouses, but does not emphasize the tropical motif.
Woodsmoke and Trails:
The Fall catalog debuted a new stoneware collection called Northwoods. This lodge-look is grouped within this theme along with Western motifs and the brand new Happy Trails pattern this Spring. In addition, the apple and sunflower patterns fit as well. Everything from little boy cowboy to ultra-chic leathers are included in this theme.
Old World:
I saved one of the "hottest" decorative styles for last. This is a look you see everywhere these days. It is one that is very comfortable and blends in well with many other styles. European, Old World charm is seen in the United States and is often referred to as Tuscan. The Italian fruit and sunflower stoneware patterns are naturals for this category. Aspects of French and English Country can combine with earthy tones of the Mediterranean.
