I see them dance
in wind-born sun
I hear their song
they clap in breeze
waltz down streets
swing on eaves
their red tongues hum
a tree tune
Rust taps-- brown beats
blow down upon the ground
on lawns-- on walks
they skip-- they twirl
curl up side-by-side
they wait to ride the sky
Their song and dance is Fall
They are the steps
the notes that float on air
in tones of gold
ringing down one by one
in glee gusts
a glad score
from tree tops
by the sides
to my heels
on the soles of my shoes
I DANCE IN LEAVES
