But even for those who have the resources, the question that often arises is "Where to begin?"

An affective starting point for kid’s room decor is with an area rug. Rugs add color, warmth and theme to an otherwise plain room. A rug, especially with bright tones protects a light colored carpet and provides protection against falls on hard wood flooring or tiles. Additionally, educational rugs stimulate the child’s mind and make learning a lot more fun.

Traditionally used as floor coverings, area rugs can also be utilized as wall hangings or as table and bed coverings as well. The use of handmade rugs for a purely decorative and artistic purpose has been part of Eastern tradition for centuries and is becoming increasing popular in the west.

Almost any rug can be used as a wall hanging provided they are not too heavy. A lighter rug will not strain the warp and weft threads whereas a heavy rug will pull the threads and possibly break them.

A Boys Rug - numerous selections, match accessories, inexpensive kid’s rugs, Tasneem Mirza, home and gardenToday a number of specialty stores - Kid’s R Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pottery barn - carry children’s rugs but due to limited space are unable to display a large product line, thus limiting choice. On the other hand, online stores like www.exquisiterugs.com provide on line shoppers with numerous selections. You will find a rug to complement any theme - sports, jungle, Disney, floral, ballerina. Variety of rug choices along with ease of shopping, and capability of price comparison have increased online sales.

At exquisite rugs great effort is made to find rugs ranging not only in prices but also materials, designs and patterns. We are constantly updating our product line to include rugs that embrace new trends and match accessories and furniture.

If you cannot decide on a theme for your child’s room or have determined what you want but cannot find the right rug visit exquisiterugs.com. Choose the right rug from a collection of inexpensive kid’s rugs.

Carpet Care Tips

Carpet’s worst enemies include dust, moths and soot. Dust wears through the material over time and can make large holes. Carpets are cleaned using either a vacuum cleaner or brush in the direction of - never against - the pile. If the rugs are older use a vacuum cleaner not more than twice a month at low speed. A warning to vacuum cleaner users: only vacuum the pile of the rug, not the delicate fringes. The fringes will not last long if a vacuum cleaner is used on them regularly. Use a vacuum cleaner with a built-in ‘beater’ on the back of the rug every six months for removing ground-in loose fibers, sand, and grit.

If you decide to wash your carpet test the colors on a small portion - a corner - for fastness, first with a dry, and then with a wet cloth. If the color does not bleed, use only the finest, gentle soap flake. Detergents or chemicals of any kind should not be used. They reduce the fat content and therefore the luster and the durability of the wool. To freshen color, add a very small quantity if wine vinegar to the last rinse.
