Submissions

Dreams Alive Magazine currently accepts submissions of Home and Garden articles, uplifting poetry, recipes, press releases, paintings and photographs, sculptures and most other forms of art. We are your vehicle to world recognition, or at the very least, a totally cool method to show off your talents. Publish your material here!

Submission Tips:

• Articles that do not include images are rarely selected. Include 1 or more images (250 x 350 or larger) to support the concept of your article.
• Seasonal or holiday related articles are greatly desired and may get listed on the cover as well. In addition, seasonal articles have shown the highest degree of return traffic, even years after being published.
• Authors who have purchased advertising space within the past year via a DVA (Dynamic Vertical Ad) will be given preferential treatment when determining which articles are selected. Placing an ad is not a guarantee of article publication, however, if your article is of good quality and fits the theme for an issue, you submission would more likely be published.
• Articles that include a bio with the authors picture are also favored. Once you are published, we will use the picture and bio on file. If you do not remember if you were published with us, take a look at the 'Search by Author' pull-down menu at the top of any article category page.

Magazine release dates are bi-monthly on the 15th. The issues are also themed as:

• Winter - No Longer Issued
• Spring - March, April & May
• Summer - June, July and August
• Autumn - September, October, November
• Christmas - No Longer Issued

If you desire an item to appear in a specific issue, be sure to submit the information at least 1 month prior to the next issue release date.

Opportunities For our Authors:

• Dreams Alive Magazine is still looking to work with one specific author per primary category, to provide a feature article for every issue from this time forward. The primary purpose of this is to ensure we have a base of articles to allow timely releases of all future issues and to have articles that are better tailored to the current holiday or season. Articles by other authors will still be used, but they would be "supporting articles" and not "Feature Articles"

  Requirements:

  • Each article must have a direct conection to the season or holiday associated with the issue.
  • Each article must include a photo to help express the article. Minimum image size is 250x350.
  • Each article must be submitted within 1 month of the issue release date.
  • The articles submitted must follow our guidelines to the letter and be delivered in a timely manner and include images along with the article, or the article will not be used.

  Benefits:

  • Feature articles are the articles considered first when creating the magazine cover.
  • Feature articles are listed first on all table of contents and will receive higher readership.

  To Apply:

  • You must provide samples or locations of where your work is already published. Already having been published by us is a great bonus.
  • Confirm you have images you are authorized to use or confirm you have access to images by others that can be authorized for use.
  • Agree to submit seasonal and holiday related articles within 1 month of the issue release dates. Although new and fresh material is suggested, it is fine to use articles you have already created, provided they serve the need of the issue.
    • Targeted Issue Release Dates: Spring 3/15, Summer 6/15, Autumn 9/15

  • If you believe there is a category we are not providing that can be useful to our magazine, you may suggest yourself for that category and we will take your suggestion under consideration.

Prerequisites

We accept article submissions, poetry submissions and art submissions. The following prerequisites are required for all article and poetry submissions. Failure to adhere to our simple requirements may lead to rejection of your submission.

Consider advertising with us by placing a DVA (Dynamic Vertical Ad). Although this is not necessary, it is appreciated, likewise, placing an ad does not guarantee placement of an article if the article fails to follow our guidelines.

Tell Us About Yourself - We need a picture, graphic or representation of yourself and a third person bio about you. The bio only needs to be a paragraph or two long. Keep it short and to the point. The bio should mention all the methods by which you are comfortable being contacted.

Provide Photos - Every article within the Dreams Alive Magazine includes at least one photo. It is vital that you provide a photo that goes along with the concept of your submission. Minimum picture size is 250px x 350px. If you do not have a photo, see if you can find one online that is appropriate and legal to use. Articles will not be published without photos (clip art is not acceptable).

Link To Us - You need to place a link to our site within your site. You can choose any kind of link you want. We provide banner, button and text sample links at our Link To Us Page.

  You can link it directly to your article, poem, recipe, or artwork.

Share Us With Your Friends - If you don't have a web site, you must promise to help promote our site by mentioning us in chat rooms, forums and mentioning us when you send information to all your friends and associates on your mailing lists.

All submissions are sent via e-mail. Clicking on the Submission links provided, will take you to a page that simply provides a special e-mail link to us that is used strictly for the submission of articles, art and stories for Dreams Alive Magazine.

 

Home And Garden Related Articles

We accept home and garden article submissions. Any kind of article having to do with your home or garden is acceptable for submission. You can write about an experience you had or provide a documentary type of article where you explain things, like performing a project. Use your imagination and writing skills in the manner in which you feel most comfortable.

Submission Guidelines

• The article must be a minumum of 3000 charactors or 500 words.
• Place a link to Dreams Alive Magazine on your website. If you do not have a website, remember to mention our magazine when you send e-mail or visit forums and chat rooms.
• Included a photo of the author
• Include a short bio of the author
• Indicate (yes or no) whether we can add your articles to our list of authors who have pre-approved their articles to be reprinted elsewhere without need for additional approval. See Our Reproduction Guidelines for greater detail.

• Follow the prerequisites mentioned above and send articles as e-mail attachments in .doc, .rtf, .txt or .html formats or just copy and paste it into the body of the e-mail. Do not be concerned with how your article appears since we will perform all the formatting and code work when placing the article within the magazine.

• You must provide picture(s) that support the content of the article. Send them along as attachments of the e-mail or provide links to where the pictures can already be obtained online. If the pictures are embedded in a word document, include them as e-mail attachments if possible since some images cannot be easily extracted from a word document without additional work.

• Are you in business or looking to promote an event? Submit an interesting article that is accepted for the magazine and we'll double the subscription length of the next Dynamic Vertical Ad you place in that or the next issue. These ads surpass any other advertising method we have seen before...you can update them at anytime AT NO EXTRA COST...and THEY LAST FOR YEARS.

We reserve the right to edit or disapprove any article. In addition, due to the number of articles received, we have to archive many of them for use at a later time. We can't guarantee you will be notified as to if and when we plan to use your article.

 

Poetry

We accept poetry submissions. Dreams Alive relates directly to the burning desire within all of us to achieve the things most dear to our hearts. If you have uplifting, energizing, soul searching and all around spiritually healthy poems, we would be glad to publicize them for you.

• Follow the prerequisites mentioned above and send articles as e-mail attachments in .doc or .html formats. Since the text format of poetry is usually important, copying and pasting your poem directly into the e-mail body will not preserve the layout, even if it looks as though it did when you pasted it. It changes when I get it. To ensure proper formatting, use Word, Write, Publisher or Pagemaker to create your poem and then simply attach it to the e-mail.

• Provide a 250 x 350 picture that support the content of the poem or provide us with an idea of a picture you think would work best. Send them along as attachments of the e-mail or provide links to where the pictures can already be obtained online.

• Include a short bio, however, an authors pic is not necessary.

Art

We accept art submissions. There are many ways in which your art can be used within the Dreams Alive magazine. You determine when and where we can use your art. Be specific when submitting your art as to what either is or is not an acceptable use of your work.

In any and all circumstances where we would use an artists work, the image will be linked to your site or e-mail address and the Alternate text that appears when you place the mouse over the picture will provide the name of the picture, the authors name and any other relevant information. In many cases, depending upon the page layout, we will also add the following below the picture:

Our current uses of Art are:

• While creating articles for Dreams Alive, there are many occasions where the author does not provide graphics or photographs that would help convey the message of the article. This is when we go hunting through our CD collections and through the art collections made available to us from artists like yourself.

• We have an art gallery within Dreams Alive Magazine called "Artisan Studio". Portraits and graphics are displayed with full information provided about the pictures author, and of course, they are linked to your site or e-mail address. Minimum submitted image sizes are 250 x 350.

The bottom line is that we will always provide a link back to your web site or e-mail address for every occasion your work is displayed. If you agree to the methods above as to how we can use your artwork, then send us your pictures or links to your pictures already online.

 

Kids

Our "Just For Kids" column is very dynamic and this allows you to provide kid related information and ideas that covers a very wide spectrum. Each issue is hand-made to reflect whatever we find and/or was sent to us. We do look to have at least one craft item in each issue, but other than that, you are the one who will help mold this area of our magazine.

Some ideas of articles to send are, craft ideas, games, events, funny or educational stories, cartoons, items to color, fun science and experiments, gymnastic achievements and anything else that relates to children.

• Follow the prerequisites mentioned above and send stories as e-mail attachments in .doc, .rtf, .txt, .html, or .wri formats or just copy and paste it into the body of the e-mail. Do not be concerned with how your story appears since we will perform all the formatting and code work when placing the story within the magazine.

• Do your best to provide pictures (min 250 x 350) that support the content of the story or idea. Send them along as attachments of the e-mail in .gif, .jpg, .bmp, .tif, .wmf, or .psp formats, or provide links to where the pictures can already be obtained online.

We reserve the right to edit, expand upon or disapprove any story or idea. In addition, due to the number of submissions received, we often have to archive many of them for use at a later time. We can't guarantee you will be notified as to if and when we plan to use your story.

 

The Recipe Exchange

We accept recipe submissions. We want to publicize your recipes. The Recipe Exchange is setup so that you can share your recipes with the world.

Some benefits include:

• Having your name, picture and website link on the recipe card.

Each recipe card submitted must include all of the following information or it will be discarded:

• Name of recipe
• Measured Ingredients
• In-depth preparation and cooking instructions
• A picture of the item is necessary. The following picture formats are acceptable: .jpg, .gif and .bmp, The picture width must be at least 300 pixels wide.
• Your name, picture and a short paragraph about yourself.

What's New?

Have you developed a new product or video? Wrote a new book? Created a new service? WELL, if it has anything to do with interior decorating, interior design, exterior design, fine arts or anything remotely connected to design, Tell Us About It! We accept online submissions of press releases and other information that our readers may have an interest in.

Send your information as e-mail or as e-mail attachments in .doc, .rtf, .txt, html, or .wri formats. Send graphics as e-mail attachments in .psp, .tif, .gif or .jpg formats.
